Welcome, David Flood II

By: Laura Peisker Bandy and Mark W Gaither

We’re excited to announce that David Flood, II has joined the CSNTM team as a new Lead Research Fellow! A former CSNTM intern (2017–2018) and a current Ph.D. candidate at the University of Edinburgh, we are very fortunate to welcome him back and we look forward to having him guide our upcoming expeditions with his academic and leadership expertise.

David is both a textual critic and an accomplished computer coder. Because what we do blends ancient studies with cutting-edge technology, he is an ideal addition to our team.

Here’s more from David himself:

My interest in studying textual criticism at an advanced level began during my time as an intern for CSNTM. It was during my internship that I first learned how to do original research, write successful academic conference proposals, and to succeed at applying to a PhD program. A year after finishing my internship with CSNTM, I moved to the UK with my wife Audrey and our children. There I took up full time research towards a PhD at the University of Edinburgh.
While leaving the beautiful city and community of Edinburgh was bittersweet, I am extremely excited to join CSNTM’s research team and help both with the preservation and the study of ancient New Testament manuscripts. I am especially looking forward to manuscript research and contributing to the use of computer tools related to textual criticism and digitization.
Outside of work and research, I enjoy reading and making up stories to my children, playing fingerstyle guitar, and sometimes even editing my unpublished novel.
